Bertie Armstrong is a singer and banjo player based in Newcastle. He blends traditional Appalachian old time and country music with original songs. Bertie’s songwriting has been greatly influenced by artists such as Neil Young and Townes Van Zandt, as well as traditional songs from America and the U.K. He has spent time in Tennessee and North Carolina and has learned first hand from musicians such as Cathy Fink and Bruce Molsky. Bertie’s music stays contemporary while being deeply rooted in tradition.

Jenny Lascelles is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle. She performs her original material regularly around the North-East, both as a solo act and with her band, and has released two independent albums, 'Fairy Lights' and 'Backbone' to warm reviews.
