Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) returns with live performances, in a colourful and mesmerising evening of contemporary dance.

Featuring recent virtual commissions by award winning choreographers Mark Baldwin, Eliot Smith, and Jake Vincent, HOMECOMING also includes a première by newcomer Yamit Salazar, and a short film celebrating the incredible 10-year journey of ESD.

Mark Baldwin OBE, the recipient of the 2018 De Valois Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, and more recently Artistic Director of Rambert, has created Messiah, a solo exploring his ongoing research on how to combine dance with the music of Handel's Messiah.

Jake Vincent, the extremely talented New York City based choreographer and dancer, has created Onward, a short solo that explores the idea of taking unusual or less-travelled paths, set to Haydn's Cello Concerto.

Eliot Smith, the artistic director of ESD, takes his inspiration from the Greek mythological story of Helen of Troy.  With a cast of four dancers, TroY is an adaptation and modernisation of the legend of Troy.  Set to original music by award-winning composer Adam Johnson, the work explores Smith's current investigation into identity, sex, and gender, using the re-imagining of the ancient story.

Yamit Salazar, ESD's longest serving dancer, and in his debut as a choreographer, has created Bloom on five dancers, inspired by his native Colombia’s yearly ‘Festival of the Flowers’, telling stories of strength, beauty and the diversity of people.
