Eliot Smith Dance (ESD) returns with live performances, in a colourful and mesmerising evening of contemporary dance.

Featuring recent virtual commissions by award winning choreographers Mark Baldwin, Eliot Smith, and Jake Vincent, HOMECOMING also includes a première by newcomer Yamit Salazar, and a short film celebrating the incredible 10-year journey of ESD.


Mark Baldwin OBE, the recipient of the 2018 De Valois Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance, and more recently Artistic Director of Rambert, has created Messiah, a solo exploring his ongoing research on how to combine dance with the music of Handel's Messiah.


Jake Vincent, the extremely talented New York City based choreographer and dancer, has created Onward, a short solo that explores the idea of taking unusual or less-travelled paths, set to Haydn's Cello Concerto.


Eliot Smith, the artistic director of ESD, takes his inspiration from the Greek mythological story of Helen of Troy.  With a cast of four dancers, TroY is an adaptation and modernisation of the legend of Troy.  Set to original music by award-winning composer Adam Johnson, the work explores Smith's current investigation into identity, sex, and gender, using the re-imagining of the ancient story.


Yamit Salazar, ESD's longest serving dancer, and in his debut as a choreographer, has created Bloom on five dancers, inspired by his native Colombia’s yearly ‘Festival of the Flowers’, telling stories of strength, beauty and the diversity of people.

Entering and exiting the building
We will be operating a one way system on the evening. Whether you drive, walk or get public transport to GCT, please enter the building via our main entrance on the side of the building, you will be greeted by a member of staff who will show you to your table in our main Auditorium.  There is one door in to the Auditorium and one door to exit, these will be clearly marked.

Our bar will be running a drinks menu and we will be running table service for the duration of the event.

Hygiene and Safety
Safety and confidence of you and our staff is the most important to us so we have put in the following procedures in place to assure you we are making GCT the safest it can be:

  1. There are hand sanitising stations throughout the building and our staff will be undertaking regular cleaning of public areas. 

  2. We will be maintaining social distancing at all times and offering table service only.

  3. Tables or groups of seats are limited to allow for the safest distance between each audience member and artists with clear passing points.

  4. We encourage contactless card payments where possible to limit the exchange of cash.

  5. Please scan the NHS Track and Trace QR code upon entry.

  6. Please wear a face mask when not seated.​

  7. Do not travel or visit us if you are feeling unwell or are displaying any relevant COVID19 symptoms.
