“There are hints of Sharon Van Etten in a jam with Billie Eilish" Tom Robinson's ‘Fresh On The Net’
"The same sort of songwriting gene pool as classic 70’s stuff from the likes of Carly Simon and Fleetwood Mac… and there’s more than a touch of - whisper it – Kate Bush about this” The Crack
Cortney Dixon, championed by BBC Introducing in the North East as one of their Top Ten Tips for 2020, released a special self-produced EP ‘Won’t Feel Like This Forever’ on 23rd October 2020. It features tracks from a portfolio of songs Cortney wrote for her own sanity, therapy and enjoyment during Lockdown.
The South Shields singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer, was raised on an eclectic mix of music from Fleetwood Mac, Bowie and Kate Bush to The Clash and The Specials. Taking inspiration from the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Lorde and Bon Iver, November 2020 saw the release of Cortney's second EP ‘Our Intuition’, made up of a collection of seven songs including singles Cortney worked on with Jim Lowe (producer of Stereophonics & Charlatans).
Cortney, known for creating amazing imagery and visuals to accompany her music, made it her goal to create stunning videos for every track on the EP. Collaborating with local videographers, including Rob Irish, Jodie Canwell, Eddy Maynard and Michael Sreenan, these music videos reached millions of viewers and were shared by thousands on Facebook!
Cortney’s currently on a roll in the studio working on new music with a slightly new sound and is stacking up future releases for 2021! Like everybody else, she and her band are eager to get back out playing live gigs and festivals once again!
