A perfect & unique comeback gig for Jumpin’ Hot Club, we have Australian singer/songstress Emily Barker (duo) coming here to play a one - off full live show. We also have the American singer songwriter’s Brennen Leigh & Noel McKay performing a live stream from their studio in Nashville USA, directly into the Gosforth Civic Theatre. This stream will open our comeback show.
Emily Barker has agreed to come up & play an exclusive show. The Australian songstress has been quite a regular visitor over the years. However her star is still powerfully on the rise as only last week she was performing a unique live stream with Frank Turner, the high profile indie folk singer. Emily you might remember as the award-winning songwriter and performer of the theme to BBC TV’s “Wallander”. Her sixth album release, A Dark Murmuration of Words came out during lockdown & is a timely exploration of climate change, racism, sexism, and myths of economic progress through the lens of what it means to return “home.” Her music is a blend of everything roots from country to English folk via sixties pop/soul.
Nashville based American songwriters Brennen Leigh & Noel McKay are regular visitors here too. They have secured a small studio & we are going to stream an exclusive live set from USA, directly onto our screen in GCT. Their music is world class Bluegrass /Country, just in case you didn’t know!
