NEW CENTURY RAGTIME ORCHESTRA

A booking fee of 6.5% + £0.49 per sold ticket is included when booking a ticket online through our Eventbrite platform.
This twelve-piece orchestra plays music from the dawn of Ragtime in the 1890’s through to the early Swing Era of the 1930’s. Lovingly recreated from the original sheet music and painstakingly scored for full ensemble, we perform not only ragtime composers such as Scott Joplin but also classic jazz and hot dance music from the 1920’s, and the early swing of Duke Ellington.
Martin Litton (piano)
Martin Litton is an internationally renowned pianist, arranger, and bandleader, specializing in all the classic styles of jazz from the age of Ragtime through to the Swing era and beyond. He has broadcast frequently on BBC Radio 3, talking about and demonstrating the music of Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Earl Hines, and Teddy Wilson. Martin has worked and recorded with many legendary British and American musicians, including Humphrey Lyttleton, Kenny Ball, Harry Gold, Clare Teal, Kenny Davern, Scott Hamilton, Bob Wilber, Marty Grosz, and Wild Bill Davison. Martin is equally effective as a solo artist, accompanist, or band pianist, as is evidenced by his work in the popular theatre show ‘Swinging At The Cotton Club’, with the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra, and in previous years with the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra.
