Job Vacancy: Front of House Supervisor

The Role

You’ll be part of the Front of House Team, reporting to the General Manager. The Supervisor role is responsible for securing or opening the building when the general manager or duty managers are not on shift.

The FOH team have responsibility for delivering excellent customer service to all customers and visitors to Gosforth Civic Theatre in a welcoming, relaxed and safe environment. 

Main duties and responsibilities:

To act as key holder when the General Manager and Duty Managers aren’t on shift. This includes supporting other staff on shift, locking and opening up the building in line with our security procedures, and cashing up and opening tills as appropriate.

You'll work in the café preparing and serving hot and cold refreshments and support the delivery of our events, this could include setting up and working behind the bar. 

Experience working in a café or bar environment is essential, as is previous evidence of undertaking relevant responsibilities during a hospitality role (Supporting/training new team members, locking or opening up, cashing up, etc).

Customer Service

  • Make all customers, visitors and service users feel welcome Gosforth Civic Theatre.

  • Confidently handle customer enquiries both in person and over the phone.

  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.

  • Prepare and deliver hot and cold refreshments to the highest standards.

  • Work as part of a team to be up to date with product and operational changes.

  • Be proactive and actively respond to problems that arise and keep the team up to date.

  • Support the team to deliver of public, private and corporate events.

  • Use our systems to sell tickets for upcoming events and add customers to our mailing list (full training given).

Cash Handling

  • Ability to use a till and pdq machines to record transactions and sales (full training given).

  • Follow strict procedures for all other cash systems in use for handling petty cash and change.

  • Be aware and report of any cash irregularities to management.

  • Follow end of day cashing up procedures.

Working collaboratively with people with learning disabilities

  • Work alongside Liberdade volunteers and people on work placements who may have learning disabilities

  • You must provide when asked the relevant information to assist us to obtain a DBS check for you.


Contract: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours per week required

Holiday entitlement: 30 days per year plus bank holidays (calculated on a pro-rata basis).

Salary: £25,000 per annum (calculated on a pro-rata basis).

Starting: Immediately
