Our in-house historian, Judith Stevenson, returns with seven drop in talks that will tackle art, design and culture. The talks will explore the cultural significance and thought behind some fascinating subjects held in Gosforth Civic Theatre's intimate theatre.

Each talk is £4.

About Judith

Judith Stevenson has been teaching art, film and design history since 2003. She has worked at Northumbria University, Newcastle College and the North East Centre for Lifelong Learning. She has also taught at Monash University, University of Melbourne and the Incinerator Gallery in Melbourne, Australia.

From New York to Newcastle, Mumbai to Melbourne, Art Deco was a truly international style. Flourishing in the 1920s, Art Deco was initially synonymous with glamour, luxury and decadence. After the Great Depression the style was often used in mass production.
