The seventh edition of The Great Northern Piano Session presented by Atmospherica Concerts will take place on Friday 1st July 2022 at 7.30pm at Gosforth Civic Theatre, Regent Farm Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 3HD.

The series features the finest in contemporary classical composers performing their own music, in an informal setting inside the wonderfully intimate Gosforth Civic Theatre. This concert is a must for lovers of accessible, thoughtful and captivating solo piano music. It promises to be an unmissable evening of lovingly crafted, heartfelt and beautiful original music.

Fiona Brice, a classically trained British pianist, violinist and composer whose solo music is contemplative, classical and intimate in style. As well as being an amazing composer and performer, Fiona is also an in-demand session musician and arranger, and has worked with the likes of Placebo, Elbow, Ariana Grande, Liam Gallagher, Sam Fender, Florence & the Machine, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and many more. Fiona will be performing pieces from her recently released collection of solo piano preludes, composed during lockdown and which are now being released on the wonderful Bigo and Twigeti label this year.

Joining Fiona will be pianist and singer Oliver Brouwer, who makes a return to the Gosforth Civic Theatre after a triumphant debut performance in the very first Great Northern Piano Session back in 2018. Currently based in Bristol, over the last six years Oliver has written and recorded four collections of solo piano works which have been released by the renowned Swedish record label 1631 Recordings. Oliver is a mesmeric performer who is particularly inspired by the creative spark of improvisation. You can expect some of his wonderful set pieces taken from his four albums, but you will also witness something unique and extraordinary as Oliver creates some brand-new music live.

Completing the line up is Atmospherica founder and award-winning composer Steve Luck. The Newcastle based pianist will be performing pieces from his recently released solo piano album ‘Sojourn’ alongside some brand-new compositions. Steve’s popularity is on the rise with more than 30K monthly listeners on Spotify and a growing reputation for some very special live performances.
