We are delighted to welcome celebrated author and musician Willy Vlautin to the North East to celebrate THE NIGHT ALWAYS COMES in paperback.

His books and music stop us in our tracks - we absolutely can't wait to hear Willy, founding member of Richmond Fontaine and the Delines, talk Portland, Americana, music, writing and more with Kathryn Williams.

Willy Vlautin has published six novels, THE MOTEL LIFE, NORTHLINE, LEAN ON PETE, THE FREE, DON’T SKIP OUT ON ME and the latest, THE NIGHT ALWAYS COMES.

THE MOTEL LIFE was turned into a major motion picture starring Kris Kristofferson and Emile Hirsh in 2012. The award winning movie version of LEAN ON PETE starring Charlie Plummer, Chloe Sevigny and Steve Buscemi was released in 2018.

Willy Vlautin started writing stories and songs at an early age inspired by songrwiters and novelists such as Paul Kelly, Willie Nelson, Tom Waits, Raymond Carver and John Steinbeck.

Kathryn Williams is Mercury Prize nominated singer-songwriter with has collaborated and recorded with artists including Chris Difford, Ted Barnes, Thea Gilmore, John Martyn, Joel Salakula, Tobias Froberg, Ed Harcourt, James Yorkston, Marry Waterson, Boo Hewerdine, Paul Smith and Carol Ann Duffy.

Last year Kathryn published her debut novel THE ORMERING TIDE one of the bookshop's favourites too.
