Our cafe reopens this August with a new chef heralding a brand-new menu to go alongside a safe and welcoming environment as we finally reopens our doors after four months.
You can expect a mouth-watering menu bursting with flavour, using the freshest ingredients from the finest local suppliers in the region. At the heart of our dishes is a desire to celebrate good quality produce and create balanced meals that are not only tasty but are good for the body, mind and soul.
We’re completely accessible and have plenty of space for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
GCT Members get 10% off all food and drink in our cafe during opening hours. Not a member? You can sign up here.
Our full menu is also available for Take Away.
We have more stringent safety measures in place to keep you and our staff safe.

From the Brunch menu, you can choose from, among others, the healthy and delicious baked eggs and homemade beans, poached eggs on vegetable fritters, or opt for the hearty Big Breakfast, or even a breakfast roll if you’re in a rush.
Lunch has a selection of fresh and tasty salads, satisfying sandwiches (including a killer turkey club) and a grazing board for those that want to share.
We have always been a hit with families, so it’s only right that there’s also a bigger and more exciting kids’ menu with more choice and some great additions (cinnamon French toast sticks, anyone?!) to keep the little ones happy. With cakes and bread supplied from Gosforth favourites Pink Lane Bakery and weekly specials, GCT is a must visit in Gosforth’s dining scene.
Our coffee is supplied by Newcastle-based craft coffee roasters, Pink Lane Coffee. They not only source and roast only the best coffee possible, they select only 100% arabica single origin coffee which is ethically and responsibly sourced from growers around the world. All of our cows milk comes from Embleton Hall Dairy, we also stock Almond and Oat milk as dairy free alternatives.
Alongside our outstanding coffee you can also choose from a range of teas and soft drinks. We're also a fully licensed bar and love good beer and wine! We have local craft beers in our fridges and keep your eyes open for the occasional guest cask addition to the bar.
Entering and exiting the building
We will be operating a one way system on the evening. Whether you drive, walk or get public transport to GCT, please enter the building via our main entrance on the side of the building, please wait for a member of staff who will greet you and show you to your table.
You exit the building via the Garden only. To access our toilets (there will only be our accessible toilet in operation for August as we renovate our other facilities).
Toilets and Service
We will only have our accessible toilet available for August as we renovate our other facilities. Our cafe will be table service only to maintain a safe environment and be in line with government guidelines. Your server for the day will introduce themselves when they sit you at your table.
Hygiene and Safety
Safety and confidence of you and our staff is the most important to us so we have put in the following procedures in place to assure you we are making GCT the safest it can be:
There are hand sanitising stations throughout the building and our staff will be undertaking regular cleaning of public areas.
On top of the aforementioned one-way system, we will be maintaining social distancing of at least 1m at all times.
Tables are limited to allow for the safest distance between customers and staff, there are a total of 5 tables in the main cafe seating area and 6 tables in the Garden.
We encourage contactless card payments where possible to limit the exchange of cash.
To comply with government Track and Trace guidelines we must take the lead booker's name and contact number every table booked, whether in advance or walk up. Bookings in advance will have to provide this to secure the booking, and walk up bookings will have to enter their details at gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk/visitor-registration when they enter the building.
The building must be ventilated at all times in our public spaces, so, due to a lack of opening windows, we must have our doors open to comply with government guidelines. We therefore recommend you bring another layer to wear if the weather isn't at its warmest!
Please see the floor plan below for more detail.
Please not this is a bit different on Saturdays as the bottom image demonstrates.
