Spend your Christmas at Gosforth Civic Theatre
Your home for a magical festive period, with memorable performances and unforgettable experiences.
This year, we are excited to open our doors and invite you to celebrate Christmas with us. Our festive program includes a wide variety of performances, music, film, and magical experiences, ensuring there's something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Your Christmas, all in one place.
Every weekend in December, you're invited to gather around and meet Santa in our Storytime with Santa sessions. Our studio will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland where starry-eyed children and their grown-ups will be welcomed in to share in a tale told by St. Nick himself and talk about what Christmas means to you. We will have sessions for schools, families, and young people with complex needs. No naughty list here! Just lovely times to enjoy together.
From 19 December, buckle in for a rollercoaster of magic, music, and mayhem with our family Christmas show from Wrongsemble, A Town Called Christmas. Our hero crash-lands in a crumbling town where only the long-forgotten fables, a cantankerous caretaker and a glitching robot remain! Can they save the day, and the town called Christmas? A brand-new show for adventurers aged 3+ and their grown-ups.
Alongside our headline Christmas show A Proper Merry Christmess, a chaotic Christmas comedy for adults from Red Ladder Theatre Company. At the time of year when being skint isn’t an option, step into an honest festive story, featuring the authentic heartbreak and humour that the Christmas movies always leave out, actually.
Our now-traditional Christmas cinematic classics return on Monday 22 December, for a one-day film festival of three screenings, including Arthur Christmas, Home Alone, and Elf. Sit back in the comfort of our theatre seats and watch one of our big-screen favourites for just £6 to get ready for the big day.
For those with a desire to get cosy and hear a wintery ghost story you won't want to miss Adam Z Robinson's interpretation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol on Monday 8 December. Join Ebenezer Scrooge on a supernatural journey into the past, present and yet-to-come. The chilling atmosphere of Victorian London is brought to life and the spirits of Christmas return from the dead – all through the spellbinding art of storytelling in this thrilling solo show.
If a night out is what you're after, keep your eyes peeled for Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir's Festive Party on 6 December; it's a great night out and a wonderful celebration of gospel and soul music delivered with stunning vocals and incredible grooves.
And don't forget to mark your calendars for the return of our New Year's Eve Family Party (on sale in the Autumn!).
Tickets go on sale to GCT Members (Good Friends, Champions and Trailblazers) on Friday 18 July before going g on general sale on 25 July.

Your journey and parking
Gosforth Civic Theatre is right next to (literally 2 minutes walk from) Regent Centre Metro Station and Bus Interchange, which means we're on a host of major transport links including Tyne & Wear Metro, Arriva, Stagecoach and Go North East bus services and via car from Great North Road. Please visit our YOUR VISIT section of our website to find directions and the best way to arrive at GCT.
We have a small, free car park but this will be very busy and part reserved for artists and staff, so it's best to avoid planning on parking directly at the venue. Please keep this in mind if you're driving over; we detail alternative parking on our YOUR VISIT page so check it out!
