Spend your Christmas at Gosforth Civic Theatre
Your home for a magical festive period, with memorable performances and unforgettable experiences.
We can't wait to welcome you back this Christmas and celebrate the festive season together. Our festive programme includes a wide variety of performances, music, film and magical experiences, ensuring there's something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Your Christmas, all in one place.
Every weekend in December, you're invited to gather around and meet Santa in our Storytime with Santa sessions. Our studio will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland where starry-eyed children and their grown-ups will be welcomed in to share in a tale told by St. Nick himself and talk about what Christmas means to you. We'll have dedicated sessions for schools, families, under 4s and young people with complex needs. No naughty list here - just lovely times to enjoy together.
This year's family Christmas show is The Snow Queen of Spitsbergen from Blanket Fort Club. A sensory immersive winter adventure through the frozen north and into the heart of the Snow Queen's winter. Join us for a magical journey about friendship, resilience and finding hope and joy in the coldest of places. Featuring interactive storytelling, spoken word poetry, spellbinding puppetry and live music for the whole family.
Our now-traditional Christmas cinematic classics return on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December for two days of festive films. Join us for Arthur Christmas, Home Alone, Elf, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Nativity! Sit back in the comfort of our theatre seats and enjoy one of our big-screen favourites for just £7 to get you ready for the big day.
For those who enjoy settling in with a wintery ghost story, Adam Z. Robinson returns to GCT with his interpretation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol on Monday 7 December. Join Ebenezer Scrooge on a supernatural journey into the past, present and yet-to-come. The chilling atmosphere of Victorian London is brought to life, and the spirits of Christmas return from the dead, all through the spellbinding art of storytelling in this thrilling solo show.
If a festive night out is what you're after, don't miss Awake Arise on Monday 14 December, a celebration of winter traditions, music and song from five of the English folk scene's most inventive artists. Or book in your Christmas party with Smoove & Turrell on Friday 11 December for their much-loved Northern funk Christmas show.
And don't forget to mark your calendars for the return of our Family New Year's Eve Party. Tickets go on sale October 2026.

Your journey and parking
Gosforth Civic Theatre is right next to (literally 2 minutes walk from) Regent Centre Metro Station and Bus Interchange, which means we're on a host of major transport links including Tyne & Wear Metro, Arriva, Stagecoach and Go North East bus services and via car from Great North Road. Please visit our YOUR VISIT section of our website to find directions and the best way to arrive at GCT.
We have a small, free car park but this will be very busy and part reserved for artists and staff, so it's best to avoid planning on parking directly at the venue. Please keep this in mind if you're driving over; we detail alternative parking on our YOUR VISIT page so check it out!
