Help Raise Money for Gosforth Civic Theatre in our First Ever Fundraising Week

Dear Friends of Gosforth Civic Theatre

As you may know we are a charity that supports people with learning disabilities and autism, and it was their dream to run a building that they could welcome the community in to, that dream has become a reality at Gosforth Civic Theatre.

We love being your local theatre. Since opening our doors in September 2016 we have received over 115,000 visits from you lovely lot, at everything from free babies and toddler groups to gigs and performances from world-renowned artists. To make all of this happen we need to raise £10,000 every month on top of what we make from selling great coffee, tickets and everything else.

To put this in context; we receive £20,000 a year from Newcastle City Council, but we have to raise the remaining £100,000 through donations and applying for grants.

So, to help us raise these much needed funds we are holding a fundraising week between the 17th and 22nd of February. We are going to; pedal, game, watch and play our way to raising money for Gosforth Civic Theatre and we need your help!

Here’s how you can get involved:

SUNDAY 17 FEBRUARY – FIVE A SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

We are looking for teams to take part in a sponsored five a side tournament between 10.00am and 2.00pm at Goals, Newcastle Race Course (NE3 5HP). It’s £50 per team plus any sponsorship you can collect. Please contact Kelly@liberdade.co.uk for further information and to register your interest.

MONDAY 18 FEBRUARY – DRESS UP FREEPLAY

Between9.30am – 2.30pmwe are running a special freeplay session where we are asking you to dress your children up as their hero, they could be a superhero, a grandparent, Peppa Pig or anything in between. Make a donation or get sponsored, it is up to you!

MONDAY 18 FEBRUARY – SING ALONG CINEMA

We will screen a film at 10am picked by the After School Film Club members (visit our Facebook group for further details) and at 1pm we will screen a sing-a-long version of The Greatest Showman. Suggested donation £5 per person.

FRIDAY 22ND FEBRUARY - 24HR SPIN-ATHON

Thanks to a donation of four bikes from Gosforth Leisure Centre, we are asking for willing volunteers to join us in a 24-hour cycle relay between 10am and 4pm, if you would like to get sponsored to take a 30-minute slot (or longer if you’re feeling fit!), then pop into the Theatre, Gosforth Leisure Centre or give us a ring on 0191 284 3700 to book your place. For a sponsor form please email Kelly@liberdade.co.uk.

If you would just like to make a donation then please feel free to visit our Virgin Money Giving page or get in touch. Keep your eyes out for other activities happening throughout the week on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
