Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: GCT Programme and Ticketing

Updated: Jul 11, 2020

[Updated Saturday 11 July 2020]

First and most importantly, we hope you and your loved ones are well during this unprecedented and unsettling time.

Due to government advice issued on Monday 16 March in response to the COVID-19 epidemic, we are postponing public performances at Gosforth Civic Theatre until at least 1 May 2020. We will then be looking at events beyond that as we get more information and guidance from the government. Some events beyond April have already been rescheduled by artists and promoters due to larger tours being affected by this situation.

Unfortunately this means that all performances until September 2020, at the time of writing, have been postponed or rescheduled.

These regular activities that take place in the venue have also been put on hold with immediate effect at the time of writing:

Babies and Toddler's Freeplay

Tiny Toes

Tiny Tasters

Swing Tyne

GCT Gaming Social

Inclusive beginners Dance

Mouthful Voices

Famous 415

Where rescheduled dates have yet to be confirmed, we are working hard to reschedule the performance with the artist, we will be in touch with ticket buyers directly via and our website and social media should there be any updates.

If you have a ticket for any of the affected events your ticket will be valid for any new date for the performance agreed with the artist.

While you are fully entitled to a full refund if the event is cancelled, or you are unable to or would rather not make the new date, please consider donating the cost of your ticket.

COVID-19 will have a significant impact on Gosforth Civic Theatre and Liberdade, and on the many artists, promoters, bands and organisations who we work with each year.  Without you visiting our cafe, buying tickets, or supporting the work Liberdade do with people with learning disabilities, our income is severely impacted and the future of the venue and charity put in to doubt. Liberdade is a registered charity, but 70% of our annual income is earned, like ticket sales. Donating your ticket will help support us and the artists you were due to come and see.

We will also be sharing ways you can support the various companies, independents, promoters, artists and other venues in the region via our social media pages in the coming weeks.

If you would like to claim your refund, please request one directly through Eventbrite if you bought your ticket online, or if you bought in person or over the phone please call 0191 284 3700 with your card to hand and we can process your refund remotely. If you have any questions please email info@gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk.

If you’d like to support Gosforth Civic Theatre in other ways please visit https://www.gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk/support-us.

We know that everyone is profoundly affected by this virus in various ways and that the health and wellbeing of your loved ones is the most important thing right now, so thank you so much for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.
