Gosforth Civic Theatre Smashes its Big Give Arts for Impact Target

Gosforth Civic Theatre took part in the Big Give’s Arts for Impact 2026 Campaign
GCT raised £19,892.50, surpassing the £18,000 target
Every donation was doubled through Big Give's match funding during the one-week campaign
Gosforth Civic Theatre, the only public-facing theatre in the UK founded and guided by people with learning disabilities, took part in the Big Give Arts for Impact campaign last month. The national fundraising campaign aims to support arts and culture charities working to achieve societal impact across the UK. For one week, every donation was doubled, up to the matched funding, by Big Give’s Champions.
With the help of our community, we not only beat our original target of £15,000, we surpassed our stretch goal of £18,000 after Big Give Champion funding allowed us to raise even more money. The final total of £19,892, which includes gift aid, represents an incredible achievement from our supporters as, following a similarly successful campaign at Christmas, they have helped raise almost £40,000 for the organisation since the beginning of December.

The Big Give connects charities like GCT with philanthropic Champions (foundations, organisations and individuals) who agree to match every pound donated by the public. So when you gave £50, it became £100, and your generosity made a huge difference.
The funds raised go directly towards keeping GCT open, welcoming and ambitious. It will allow us to continue programming high-quality live music, theatre, comedy, spoken word and community events, while delivering long-term arts and health and wellbeing programmes for over 100 people with learning disabilities every week, securing the future of the venue that our community calls home.
