Impact of Supreme Court Ruling on LGBTQIA+ Rights: Curious Arts and Northern Pride Open Letter

On 9th May, Northern Pride and Curious Arts posted an Open Letter to local businesses asking them to give their support to the trans community in the wake of the recent UK Supreme Court ruling on gender identification. You can read the ruling here.

We wish to thank Northern Pride and Curious Arts for drafting this timely and incredibly important open letter to North East Businesses in light of the recent UK Supreme Court Ruling impacting the lives of trans+ people and the wider LGTBQIA+ community.

We wish to add our support to this statement and reiterate that Gosforth Civic Theatre exists for everyone and will continue to be a place that welcomes trans, non-binary and gender diverse people.

At a time when policies, rhetoric and online discourse continue to attempt to divide, it is important that we open our arms and pull together as a community. An empathic, compassionate and welcoming society is stronger than one that seeks to divide, belittle and diminish people based on their identity.
