The Role
The café staff play a key part in supporting the Front of House operation at Gosforth Civic Theatre. Working alongside our Duty Managers and kitchen team, you will be part of a team delivering an excellent café experience to all customers and visitors to Gosforth Civic Theatre in a welcoming, relaxed and safe environment.
There are a variety of daytime and weekend shifts available. There may also be the occasional evening shift.
Please note we can only employ staff aged 18 or over due to the nature of the role. Experience of working in a café environment and barista experience is essential.

Excellent personal hygiene, presentation and time keeping.
Café and Barista service experience.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Customer Service
Make all customers, visitors and service users feel welcome Gosforth Civic Theatre.
Confidently handle customer enquiries both in person and over the phone.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Prepare and deliver hot and cold refreshments to the highest standards.
Work as part of a team to be up to date of product and operational changes.
Be proactive and actively respond to problems that arise and keep the team up to date.
Support the team to deliver of public, private and corporate events.
Use our systems to sell tickets for upcoming events and add customers to our mailing list (full training given).
Cash Handling
To maximise income and minimise expenditure wherever possible.
Ability to use a till and PDQ machines to record transactions and sales (full training given).
Follow strict procedures when handling and accounting for monies and receipts, including cash floats and till reconciliation.
Housekeeping
To ensure overall cleanliness of the café, deli and bar area.
To remove regularly all empty glasses, bottles, crockery and cutlery from the Front of House service areas if required and ensure Front of House areas are kept clean and tidy.
Working collaboratively with people with learning disabilities
Work alongside Liberdade volunteers and people on work placements who may have learning disabilities.
Safety & Security
To ensure you are aware of appropriate licensing regulations (and to enquire if unsure).
To follow correct health and safety procedure and report issues to your line manager.
You must provide when asked the relevant information to assist us to obtain a DBS check for you.
Terms
Contract: Contracted & Casual Hours Available
Hours: Variable on a rota basis, evenings and weekends
Holiday entitlement: 30 days per year plus bank holidays (calculated on a pro-rata basis).
Salary: In line with National Minimum Wage
Starting: Immediately
