Thank You! From Gosforth Civic Theatre

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Big Give Christmas Challenge and COVID-19 Appeal this year; in total we raised an amazing £26,561 from your donations and pledges. This money will help us continue to support our learning disabled company members to run Gosforth Civic Theatre for you, this will mean that everyone can come together and enjoy gigs, shows and events here again when we are able to do so.

This year we have experienced so much generosity and support from you all, the examples are simply endless; you donated at our outdoor gigs, sent us kind messages of strength, were patient and understanding when we couldn’t be there for you, you gave us your time and expertise freely, people paid for coffees when our doors were closed, shared stories of when they were open, and gave generously throughout. The list goes on and on.

Over the past year we have all suffered from being isolated from our friends and extended families from time to time, we have all had to miss birthdays, celebrations and anniversaries that otherwise would have brought us together. We have also had to distance from our neighbours and those from our communities, but my experience, and I hope yours too, from being out in those communities has often been one of togetherness and mutual understanding of our shared situation.

We have all experienced this year differently, some of us have suffered loss, loneliness, anxiety, and some of us haven’t, but we have all been without connection. I hope this shared experience will bring us all closer together in the future, I hope it will build bridges between all the beautiful diversity in our community, but what I can promise to you is your support will enable Gosforth Civic Theatre to be a safe place where these connections happen and thrive.

We are greatly looking forward to being able to open our doors again; without you we are simply bricks and mortar, but with you all here, we are so much more.

Yours sincerely

Rob Huggins
